Yesterday, in the wee hours of the morning, Justin’s granddad passed from this earth. In the coming days, the family will plan his funeral and lay him to rest. Papaw was an amazing man and today, I want to celebrate his life.
I want to celebrate the love he had with Mamaw. Together, they were one of the greatest love stories I’ve ever witnessed. There is no doubt in my mind she was waiting for him in Heaven and they are having the most glorious reunion.
I want to celebrate his strength and his honor. He served in the US Army for 20-something years and fought bravely for our country.
I want to celebrate his dedication to and affection for his grandkids.
I want to celebrate his excitement over Jase, a grandson to carry on the family name.
I want to celebrate his faith. Even at his sickest, Papaw had a peace that can only come from God.
I want to celebrate him, as the cornerstone of the West family.
I want to celebrate his sense of humor, whether it be participating in a staring contest with Libby, attempting the girls’ nose trick, or telling jokes.
While we are already missing him terribly, I want to celebrate that, today, he is walking with Jesus in Heaven. Rest in peace, Papaw.

Thanks so much Courtney for posting these pictures! I have known Mr. Dick and Mrs. Yuri since I was ‘9 yrs. old’….He loved telling the story of when we first met. He’d say I told him my name and I said…’Johnnie; that’s a boys name’…..he would just laugh. I think i heard him tell it to everyone in the family…at least once, maybe twice. I loved seeing him smile. I will miss him dearly, but I have comfort knowing he was a man of God and loved Jesus. Praises to our Lord! He’s not in pain anymore and celebrating victory over death with Mrs. Yuri in Heaven! Prayers for the family!

Mr. Dick will be missed by many. One of the nicest Christian men I’ve ever known. I know he is celebrating in Heaven with his wife today. Have known him and his family for many years and I pray for the peace that passes all understanding in the days ahead. Heaven gained another great Angel.

Mr. Dick West was such a wonderful and precious man. He was always one of the first two people I would see at church on Sunday morning. I looked forward to my neck hugs. He and Charles Guy have been amazing friends worth my Dad for many years. It hurts to see these great friends cry over the loss of one of their buddies. Rest in Peace Dick West you are truly loved & missed. I am so happy to know that Ms. Uri was there to get him. I love you sweet man and missing my hugs. Mitzi
