Whew, friends. 2024 was a YEAR. Not a bad year, just a year full of ALL THE THINGS. So many things, in fact, that I am dividing this post into two parts. Part one will cover January through June and part two will cover July through December. If you read Catching Up With The Wests, #1, you may have seen a few of these pictures before but I promise it’s okay! Just stay with me =)
So grab a cup of coffee, sit down, and follow along with our 2024 in Review, part one.
January
In January, we celebrated Jase’s 9th birthday and my 39th. To celebrate, Jase had a party with all of his friends at the local skating rink and then his favorite people all came back to the house to hang out. We had out first big snow and spent and entire 48 hours sledding and building snowmen and just spending quality time together. Mom, Mallory, and I took turns cooking every meal. It was the best time and easily one of my favorite memories of the year. In a surprising turn of events, Kyndall joined Zeta and started her adventure with sorority life.
February
In February, Libby tried out and made the Varsity Cheer squad for her Junior season. I accepted a new, supplemental, position as Varsity Cheer Coach. Jase played in his last basketball game of the season and lost in the finals of the championship to finish 2nd overall. Kyndall made boss-babe moves and bought a food trailer with big plans for a coffee truck. Jase and I attended the Mother-Son dance at his school, and Libby and I were able to attend the Alabama vs. Auburn “Think Pink” gymnastics meet in Tuscaloosa.
March
In March, I joined Kyndall at her Zeta pinning for Mothers and Daughters. Her note on the board about me said, “She is always down for an adventure with me, whether it is to go shopping or on a girls’ day or a trip to the other side of the country,” and I couldn’t have asked for a better compliment! We went on several family days– bowling, dinners out. Fifth grade took our annual Camp McDowell field trip. I took Kobe fishing for the first and last time. You can read the story HERE. Libby got a new car so that she could practice before her actual 16th birthday. (Shout-out to Gragra and Pops for their help with this!)
April
The biggest news of April is that my girl got engaged! I would love to share Kyndall and Levi’s love story one day because it is the SWEETEST, but Levi popped the question on April 22 and Kyndall said YES! Wandering Coffee Co officially opened this month after an AMAZING opening day on March 30. Libby and I took a super fun trip to Covington, GA, to visit the filming locations for Vampire Diaries and Sweet Magnolias. We also saw Megan Moroney in concert. The girls in our family (minus K) had a movie day to see Someone Like You. Jase and I went on a field trip to the Space and Rocket Center and had a fun day with some of his friends. We also sat in a field for ridiculous amounts of time trying to hunt crows.
May

In May, Libby graduated from her YLL program, had awards day at school and received so many awards, and had a traumatic break to her left arm at gymnastics, After emergency surgery, she walked away with two titanium plates and fourteen screws. Her precious friend group renewed my faith in teenagers– they showed up for her in all the ways. They brought her all the gifts and spent unlimited amounts of time at our house doing whatever she needed at the time. It made my Mama-heart so happy. We went on our first wedding-dress-shopping trip. Kobe was dedicated during baby dedication at church. A new baby was born on the farm, and we celebrated Mother’s Day.
June
In June, we celebrated Todd’s birthday. Libby switched out her cast for a permanent, water-proof brace. Cheer Camp 2024. Kyndall said “yes” to the dress. Jase, Justin, Micah and Pops went fishing in Grenada, MS, and caught a bushel (loads, a slew, a bunch?) of crappie. Kyndall and I chauffered Libby and Lila to Panama City to meet the Simms family. Mama got a new ride =). I traded the Tahoe in for a Wrangler and couldn’t be happier! We made a visit to Hilton Head, SC, to tour Kyndall and Levi’s GORGEOUS wedding venue. We had the best time trying out all the local restaurants and fishing with the alligators! (Full Hilton Head post coming soon!)
