Today I’m joining up with a group of fantastic ladies to host The Daily Dime. Once a month, I’ll be sharing ten photos to document a day in our life. Today’s post photos are documenting Tuesday, June 6.
Breakfast. Usually, during the summer, we like to sleep in. Today, Jase has a dentist appointment in Madison. We woke up pretty early (7ish) and headed straight for food. Coffee for me, oatmeal for Jase, and waffles with powdered sugar for both girls. Breakfasts of champions, right? =)
Jase has been fighting a few cavities for several months now. We’ve been brushing really good and the dentist has been applying fluoride in his office, but it looks like we are losing the fight. He did great at his appointment today, but we had to schedule a follow-up appointment at the hospital for dental work. He’ll need to be sedated for them to properly treat the cavities and my mama heart is scared to death!
There is no better way to recoup from a rough appointment than Bridgestreet Towne Center for lunch and a visit to Steel City Pops. Gra-Gra treated us to these pops and a trip to Sam’s Club. Buying in bulk always seems to be fun, doesn’t it?
Checking the garden. Justin got a little heavy-handed with the fertilizer a few months ago and almost half our plants died, but we still have a pretty good garden going. Any day now, we are going to start harvesting squash and zucchini!
Evening chores. Can you really call them chores when the kids love to complete them? We have 28 chickens, 2 rabbits, and 1 dog right now and it is the girls’ responsibility to feed and water them every day. Most days, they go out every morning and every evening to check the feed and water. We have just switched our chickens over to laying feed, so we should be getting fresh eggs in the next few weeks. They (ok, WE!) can’t wait!
Lately, the girls and I are on a Netflix-binge of Heartland. We usually watch at least one episode every day, if not more than one!
Remember that farmhouse table Justin built for us several months ago? It’s been hanging out in my dad’s shop while we finished the house and now it needs a little revamping before we can move it in. Justin’s been working on sanding the top down and getting it ready to stain.
Bedtime reading. We are participating in Jamie Martin’s #ReadtheWorld summer book club and this book, The Journey That Saved Curious George: The True Wartime Escape of Margret and H.A. Rey, is first on our list. In case you are wondering, we give it five of five stars–it was really interesting! PS: This picture is so typical–the girls listening intently and Jase flopping around us!
The girls have their own rooms now that we are in the new house, but most nights, they still sleep together. It makes my mama-heart happy!
We would love to hear all about your day in the life-link up with The Daily Dime below. The link will stay open for two weeks, so you still have time to capture a day and participate. If you aren’t ready this month, we would love to have you join us next month. July’s link-up will happen on Wednesday, July 12. Join The Daily Dime Link-Up:

Sending good thoughts for his future sedation. It’s so hard to see your kids like that!
The picture of them with the popsicles is adorable!

That table is going to be beautiful (it already is!!!). I wish I could have a table like. Sorry to hear about the cavity fight. Your squash plants are HUGE! I love that garden area.

That table! Do you think he’ll make me one? 😉 you are going to get so many eggs! We only have 8 layers and one rooster and get enough for 3 families a week. I love that your kids help with the chores though.

That farmhouse table is going to be gorgeous!! And we’re huge Steel City Pop fans, too!

How sweet that your girls still sleep together! My sister and I totally did that growing up too 🙂 Good luck with the dental work…this is my fear every time I take my son in! He is terrified of just getting a cleaning so I’m sure anything beyond that would be awful!! OH and that table looks amazing!

I love Steel City Pops! I’m from north Alabama, too, so Bridgestreet is always a destination my husband and I enjoy going to!
