At the beginning of the summer, Justin and I were on the hunt for new patio furniture. Our old chairs were fine, but the table was busted and paint was flaking off it. After a few days of looking around, and a little inspiration from the people at Home Depot, I got the bright idea to redo our old table.
A little elbow grease from Justin, a little supervision from me, and that old table got a new, concrete, top. You can get all the steps and details over at the Home Depot blog today. Just click here: DIY Concrete TableTop.

Courtney, I am thinking of replacing patio tabletop with concrete. How long did your concrete tabletop from 2015 BLOG hold up? I kinda think the base underneath the concrete should be pressure treated plywood or cement backer board. What do you think?

Your concrete table top looks great and I have one that has broken and I am thinking of doing the same thing.. What thickness of plywood did you use when making the concrete patio table top and did you colour the cement when mixing or paint it when it was dry as a light blue tint in the photos.?
Thanks
Dave

Hi Dave! The plywood was 1/2 inch thick. We didn’t color the cement at all-it’s actually the light gray, original cement color. You could do that though, if you want your concrete to be a different shade!
