We had so much fun on Maggie’s (and surprise, Kyndall’s) Senior trip and I can’t WAIT to share it all. To kick things off, we spent a whirlwind 24 hours in New Orleans before boarding our cruise ship at the port.
Always, always, always do breakfast at Cafe du Monde. The beignets and coffee are divine and definitely a can’t-miss cuisine. There are several locations, but the original is on Decatur Street, directly across from Jackson Square.
Take a visit to historic Jackson Square. Jackson Square is well-known for its historical significance, but they also host an open-air artist market around the grounds where local artists display and sell their work. It’s a world of culture that you need to experience.
Explore the French Quarter. The architecture, the history, the shopping, the FOOD. This is the heart of New Orleans and you can find a little bit of everything here!
Stroll along Bourbon Street. It’s wild and crazy, but full of so much energy and culture. We went in the early evening hours, so it wasn’t too scandalous!
There are so many restaurants in New Orleans that I could never begin to tell you our favorite. But on this trip, we had dinner at Evangeline’s and it was amazing. We sat in the cutest little courtyard in the back and had the most delicious shrimp etouffee I have ever tried.
If you ever have the opportunity to visit New Orleans, even if you only have 24-hours, take the visit. You can see and do a lot in this busy city!
