I recently accepted a position as Varsity cheer coach at our high school. It’s been a while since I cheered (please keep the “old” jokes to yourself!), but it’s kind of like riding a bike. It all came back pretty quickly.
Before I came on board, we were already scheduled for cheer camp. We went NCA at Great Wolf Lodge in Georgia. It was an intense few days, with LOTS of information thrown at our girls, but they were amazing. They took everything in stride and absorbed as much as the possibly could.
We finished the camp with some hardware that I am pumped to bring back. Out of 6 teams, we placed 2nd in Situational Chant and 3rd in Band Chant.
On a personal note, I am SUPER proud of my girl. Three weeks before camp, she broke her arm doing her roundoff back-handspring at gymnastics. Both the bones in her forearm snapped, and after surgery, she is left with 2 plates and 14 screws in that arm. She was devastated about camp. Even though she couldn’t participate fully (no stunting or tumbling), she was allowed to do motions and spirit with us. Imagine how EXCITED we were when she came out with an All-American nomination in spite of her injury!
My cheerleaders were outfitted at camp in the cutest Varsity gear, but unfortunately, coaches don’t get discounts. I was super excited when adidas reached out to me (unrelated to cheer) to be a blog partner. My girls and I have been long-time supporters of the adidas brand and I jumped at the opportunity to be gifted some of their products!
The adidas marathon shorts and women running shoes are in my outfit rotation almost daily. I may have even ordered a new pair of shoes in white. I love that adidas has something for everyone in the family– girls, boys, young and “old”!
