While we’re not on the subject of makeup, I thought I’d take a minute to share my no-fuss routine. (If you’re a guy, or not interested in makeup, go read this post about a surprise visitor.)
I’m a simple girl–I am most happy in jeans and a t-shirt and do not like to spend a lot of time getting ready. I also don’t have the complexion to go without makeup, so I’ve perfected a quick, no-fuss makeup routine over the years. This is even more important now that I have three kids–I need to be shower to clothes-on in 30 minutes or less.
I always start with Clinique Stay Matte liquid foundation and Clinique Stay Matte pressed powder. I have used Clinique off and on since high school and haven’t found anything I like better. Tip: The foundation needs to have a minute to dry before applying powder–if not, it gets splotchy. I usually apply foundation and then brush my teeth before applying powder, just so you know.
I’m a big fan of Almay Eye Primer for Green Eyes (even if you don’t really have green eyes). It is a shimmery nude color, so it could be used by itself or as a primer. It keeps my eye makeup on all day long.
Next, I use Almay I-Color Bold Nudes for Green Eyes. If I’m feeling extra fashionable, I’ll dust on a little Bare Minerals eye shimmer in Celestine. I follow this up with Palladio eye liner in Black Brown.
After searching high and low for the perfect mascara, I finally found it in High Impact Mascara by Clinique.
And the one thing I never leave the house without is lip color. If I don’t have something on my lips, it looks like I have no lips. I have two favorites right now– E.L.F. matte lip color in Praline as a sort of lip liner and the Ulta lip crayon in American Girl.
