Our Taylor Swift concert experience was a flop, at no fault of Taylor herself. T Swift puts on a GREAT show. No holds barred. Amazing. It just wasn’t for my girls.
We took the MARTA in Atlanta to the concert. (The MARTA is their public transportation system.) It was packed. It think every Swiftie concert attender was on board. Grown adults were pushing our little kids. It was loud and super crowded (standing room only) and Libby had an all-out panic attack before we even made it to the venue. She was begging me to call Justin and have him pick us up for the ride back to the hotel.
Again with the crowd trying to get into the concert. We were at the Georgia Dome, which is one of the biggest venues I’ve ever been to. There were 56,000 people in attendance. It was insane.
Our seats were pretty high up, so it was hard for the girls to see. When everyone stood up, (which they do because, concert!) the girls couldn’t even see the screen with Taylor’s face. In case you’re wondering, if you can’t even see the performer at all, you might as well be at home listening on the radio.
We did purchase concert t-shirts and I was able to wrangle Libby back onto the MARTA for the ride back to the hotel. I feel defeated as a concert-loving mother. I want my girls to love concerts as much as I do, so now I’m on a mission. Good performer, kid-friendly lyrics, and a smaller venue. Next time, they are going to love it!
Let me clarify, I was very impressed with Taylor. Not only did she put on a top notch performance, she shared some really great advice about social media.
She said, “The problem with social media is that someone can ruin your entire day and never have to see the look on your face.” I LOVE that. When we hurt someone’s feelings face-to-face, we have their reaction as our consequence. On social media, there is no consequence.
Taylor concluded her motivational speech by saying that we are all beautiful, smart, and special. And nothing anyone says about us defines that.
You go, T. Swift!
Selfie stick for the win 🙂
